Social Threefolding is a helpful framework for creating balance and health in our communities, When we are able to recognize and bring into balance the three “force-fields” of our collective lives: the cultural, the political, and the economic life.Each of these “force-fields” follows unique laws and has a unique way of expressing itself when it is healthy. Today, we are in crisis because these three realms are in competition with one another. They try to rule over one another, and thus do not know how to find their rightful place in the social order.

Social Threefolding, however, sees human beings as having an inherent capacity for altruism, cooperation and empathy, which can allow us to understand and work together with people with completely different backgrounds and perspectives.Social Threefolding thus works to build up healthy social structures and practices through insight into the true dignity of human beings. Without this holistic vision of what it means to be human, we will not be able to build up healthy new communities or bring healing to our existing communities.

Education, religion, medicine, social services, the arts, etc. are aspects of our cultural lives. These areas flouish in an atmosphere of freedom where a diversity of beliefs, lifestyles, approaches and worldviews can come to expression with as little political and economic constraint as possible.

When pervaded by a spirit of equality, empathic interest in differing points of view, and active rather than passive participation by every adult member of society the political life comes into healthy balance.
